The UK Competition Authority (Competition and Markets Authority – CMA), after its investigation against three companies, decided to fine the companies and secured the disqualification of the company’s directors.
The companies, which form a sizeable proportion of UK rolled lead supplies, have admitted to forming an illegal cartel which included colluding on prices, sharing the rolled lead market by arranging not to target certain customers and arranging not to supply a new business because it risked disrupting the firms’ existing customer relationships. The CMA also secured the disqualification of the directors since they were involved in the infringement. Communications with competitor businesses from a different phone or receiving competitively sensitive information from a competitor were among the behaviors that the directors were held accountable for.
