U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) stated that three Amazon Marketplace sellers pleaded guilty to violation of antitrust rules by fixing DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs prices. Sellers were charged with conspiring with others to fix prices of DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs sold through the Amazon Marketplace.
DOJ stated that each of the charged individuals and his co-conspirators agreed to raise and maintain the prices of DVDs and Blu-Ray Discs sold in their Amazon Marketplace storefronts. In United States, a criminal violation of the antitrust law carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a 1 million Dollar criminal fine for individuals. In this context, Federal District Court will decide the penalty to be given to Amazon sellers.
