AUCTIONS FOR MINING AND GEOLOGICAL EXPLORATION IN UKRAINE
03/06/2020
On July 17, eleven auctions will be held for obtaining special permits for mining and geological exploration, including research and development with subsequent extraction of minerals - the relevant investment proposals were submitted for open electronic bidding. Subsoil users will be able to compete on an equal competitive basis for the right to obtain a license for areas with deposits of amber, granite, andesite, kaolin and pegmatite, mineral table water, sand, refractory clays, platinum group metals (copper, nickel ore). This is the fourth auction launched this year. This was reported by the State Service of Geology and Subsoil of Ukraine.
Roman Opimakh, head of the State Service for Geology and Subsoil, reminded that in order to simplify the procedure for obtaining a special permit, the regulator removes artificial barriers that hinder investment in the industry. In particular, recently foreign investors have been able to participate in auctions without prior registration of a legal entity in Ukraine and register it only in case of victory. In addition, all special permits, except in certain cases clearly defined by law, are issued based on the results of public competition at the ProZorro site.
A potential investor can study all the proposals developed by the Service using the Subsoil User Investment Atlas. It is also possible to nominate for auction a site which is not mentioned in the Atlas - more than half of the objects that were put up for auction this year were nominated by subsoil users themselves.
