COMPETITION AUTHORITIES OF BRICS COUNTRIES APPROVED THE WORKING PLAN ON PANDEMIC

Competition authorities of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa (BRICS) discussed jointly the impact of the Covid-19 infection on the respective markets and potential measures that may be taken to maintain a healthful competitive environment in the markets affected.
The authorities agreed on taking following actions:
- Extending the MoU on cooperation in the field of competition law and policy,
- Adoption of a BRICS Model guidelines for applying a waiver of confidentiality in approving global concentrations,
- Approval of the action Plan of the BRICS International Center for competition law and policy,
- Establishing a joint position of BRICS competition agencies on issues discussed at international platforms such as UNCTAD and OECD. (FAS – 05.06.2020)
