COVID-19: DIGITAL JUSTICE TO FIGHT INJUSTICES AND DELAYS IN HANDLING DISPUTES RESULTING FROM THE LOCKDOWN INDUCED BY COVID-19

22/05/2020

The President of Casablanca’s Bar Association and the President of Casablanca’s Trade Court signed an agreement on MAY 15th, 2020, allowing the partial resumption of this jurisdiction’s functioning, after it was exclusively dealing with extremely urgent cases lately further to the introduction of containment measures.

This agreement took place in anticipation of the possible renewal of the lockdown measures by the Moroccan government. It stipulates the extensive use of the lawyers' digital platform set up by the Ministry of Justice.

Moreover, it was agreed to widen the platform-use scope, to allow lawyers file their requests as well as pay court fees, communicate with the registry, and receive summonses to be transferred to the concerned persons.

The platform can also be exploited by the opposing parties' lawyers to constitute themselves, receive files, file their memos and conclusions.

This remote work through the lawyers' digital platform will start by the cases carried over during the last two months due to the state of health emergency in Morocco, which was extended in until June 10th.
