DUTCH JUDICIARY ALSO CLOSED AFTER 6 APRIL 2020

26/03/2020

In connection with the coronavirus outbreak, the Judiciary closed all courts, courts of law and special colleges from 17 March 2020. Urgent matters will continue, but in principle without a physical session. Today, after consultation with the parties involved, it was decided to continue this situation after 6 April 2020. The type of cases that are dealt with in substance will slowly be expanded.

The basic principle remains then that in principle no sessions take place and there is no physical contact with parties; in principle, telephonic (telephone) hearings or other options, such as Skype for Business, will be used. Written procedures continue to be pursued as much as possible, just as they are now.

In the coming week, the Judiciary will draw up an additional list of cases that, in addition to urgent cases, should also be given priority in this second phase.
