EU ENTRY BAN EXTENDED

16/04/2020

On April 8, 2020, the European Commission published a proposal to extend the EU entry ban for non-essential trips by 30 days, until May 15, 2020. The government has decided to accept this proposal. It is a curtailment for all unnecessary travel of persons from third countries to Europe (all EU Member States, all members of Schengen and the UK). The prohibitions only apply to the carriage of passengers, not to freight.

The flight bans for travelers from risk areas to the BES islands will be extended until 28 April 2020 at 6:00 PM. The European entry ban has no effect on the BES islands, which is why the cabinet has decided to extend the flying ban that has been introduced.

Health declaration required

From April 17, 2020 at 6:00 PM, a health certificate is required for travelers from high-risk areas. This has been decided by the ministries of Infrastructure & Water Management and of Health, Welfare and Sport. The declaration must be completed before boarding. The definition of high-risk areas is based on the list of areas maintained by the European Aviation Agency. Travelers from high-risk areas are also urgently advised to go to home quarantine for 14 days.

For Spain, Austria and Italy, the fly bans are valid until April 17. From that date, travelers departing from high-risk areas must have a health certificate before they can board. These statements are already requested for flights from destinations in the United States. Travelers from high-risk areas are also urgently advised to go to home quarantine for two weeks
