European Commission has announced the consulting period that will last until 9 October 2020, on the draft “Market Definition Notice”. The Market Definition Notice contribute to companies and other stakeholders, assisting them to understand the Commission's approach to market definition.
Commission concerned that the current Market Definition Notice dates back to 1997 and may therefore not address all pertinent questions arising today when defining the relevant product and geographic market in view of changing fast and increasingly digital world. Commission stated that it updates its Market Definition Notice to ensure that make competition rules fit for changing industries and to sets out a clear and consistent approach to market definition in a way that is easily accessible. Commission seeks to initiate an open dialogue with all relevant stakeholders to find out any relevant concerns. (European Commission – 26.06.2020)
