During the corona crisis, temporary rental agreements can be extended for a short period. The urgent bill for the Temporary Extension of Temporary Rental Agreements Act was adopted today in the Senate and will enter into force after publication in the Government Gazette.
Currently it is not possible to extend a temporary rental for a short period. During this difficult times of coronavirus it is difficult for the tenant to find another home and for the landlord to find a new tenant. This urgent law offers the tenant and the landlord the opportunity to extend the temporary rental agreement for a short period.
The law applies to rental agreements that end between April 1, 2020 and June 30, 2020. Rental agreements can be extended once with a maximum of three months and until 1 September 2020 at the latest. If the corona crisis lasts longer, it is possible to extend this urgent law.
