A joint communiqué was issued by Morocco and the European Union following the phone conversation between the Moroccan Minister for Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans living abroad and the Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy.
“An interview which is part of the multidimensional partnership and permanent exchanges between the Kingdom of Morocco and the European Union, and which focused on the evolution of the Covid-19 pandemic and the means implemented at the national, regional and international levels to deal with it”, notes the press release.
The joint statement announces that the European Union will support the Moroccan budget by immediately reallocating €150 Million, especially dedicated to the requirements of the “Fund COVID-19”. Likewise, the European Union will undertake to redirect €300 Million of funds allocated to Morocco towards the fight of the pandemic by speeding up their mobilization in order to meet the exceptional budgetary needs of the country.
