On October 26, 2020 the law on the simplification of travel on toll roads came into force. It abolished the rule that the right to travel on toll roads shall be confirmed by a fare payment document. Introduction of the "free-flow" system excludes the creation of classic toll collection points. As a result, the entry to toll roads becomes barrier-free, which increases the convenience of their use. Another innovation is the post-payment system. From now on, the travel on toll roads can either be paid by a transponder or within 5 days calculated from the moment of departure from the toll road as fixed by the automatic cameras.
Simultaneously, new administrative fines will be introduced. In case of failure to pay for travel on toll roads, the owner of a passenger vehicle will be exposed to a fine of 2.5 thousand rubles, a truck or bus - 5.5 thousand rubles. If the vehicle belongs to a foreign carrier, the fines will apply to the driver. Respective bill of amendments has already passed the first reading in the Russian parliament.
