RUSSIA STARTS WITHDRAWING FROM THE DOUBLE TAXATION TREATY WITH CYPRUS

The Ministry of Finance announced that on August 3, the procedure for denouncing the agreement will begin. No agreement was reached on an increase in the tax on dividends paid from Russia to Cyprus companies to 15%.

It was planned that the tax increase would not affect income paid from Russia in 2020.

Initially, the tax increase has been announced by the Russian president during his public speech on March 25, held in connection with the coronavirus situation.
