Denmark and the Netherlands are strengthening cooperation in the areas of climate and energy. That agreement has been laid down in a cooperation agreement.
Statistical transfer
The statistical transfer agreement stipulates that Denmark will transfer a flexible amount of renewable energy from a minimum of 8 to a maximum of 16 terawatt hours (TWh) of renewable energy to the Netherlands, for a fee of € 12.50 per megawatt hour (MWh). The funds involved in the transfer will be spent on a Power-to-X project for the electrolysis of green hydrogen, which fits in well with the hydrogen ambitions of the Netherlands. With the broad degree of flexibility included in the agreement, the possible effects of the Corona crisis on the share of renewable energy are also addressed. The amount of renewable energy to be transferred is determined on the basis of the draft figures for the share of renewable energy in 2020 that Statistics Netherlands will publish in June 2021.
Energy cooperation
Denmark and the Netherlands have laid down in the cooperation agreement that both countries will cooperate more closely and exchange knowledge and experiences on themes such as offshore wind energy, sustainable heat and heat networks, hydrogen, synthetic fuels and CC (U) S. An appropriate form of cooperation is chosen for each theme.
